Clearing out and Packing Up 0

Old Postcard from London From friends I just started clearing out my old bedroom (which I’ve had since I was 13), meanwhile my mom has been rightfully nagging me to do this for months now. When I moved to San Diego a few years back, I left without taking care of it but now that I know that my move is pretty much permanent, I gotta get rid of, pack up or donate all my stuff. The photo on the right is of this old postcard I received from friends while they were touring Europe (2005). I had totally forgotten about it as I did with a bunch of other things that have been collecting dust under my bed or on my shelf. I even found an old (circa ’98) printed out email from my long lost Australian pen pal (back in the day, when people had longer attention spans, I use to print out my emails since they were so long (over 2 pages) and annoying to read on a CRT screen).

Moving in this sort of fashion can be annoying and tiresome but it also helps me realize that I hold onto so much useless junk (some jems but mostly garbage).

Rhubarb-mania 0

Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp Closeup I was just reading my pal’s LJ post about him being the pesto-man and I think it’s safe to say that this past month I’ve been the rhubarb-gal. I keep getting fresh rhubarb from people’s gardens. And so what’s a gal to do when strawberries and rhubarb are so plentiful? Make a crisp of course! My family downs the entire 9 inch pan in less than 24h. I’m on to my third batch which I’ll be putting together tomorrow morning. I even had some at vegan-friendly Stone Soup in Burlington VT but the ‘barb was a little crunchy :-/

Here’s a list of amazing things for July 2009

  • Lavender soap (handmade) from Jean Talon Market
  • Beets!!! pickled, juiced, roasted
  • rhubarb and strawbs
  • jazzfest – rocksteady with friends
  • harry potter movie marathon with my bro and sis
  • italian almond macaroon cookies from gloucester
  • hanging out with Shaun -  impromptu styles
  • tea service in old montreal on st-sulpice street @ Ming Tao Xuan Tea House
  • knowing that i’ll get to be with my sweetheart very soon and for good! (no more long distance!!!)
